CBX-300
CD Receiver System
(iPod not included)
A Multi-Format, iPod-Integrated, Space-Efficient Audio Solution
The second-generation CBX-300 CD receiver system is a rewarding blend of style, direct iPod integration and superb music
performance. As with its predecessor, the focus has been on providing an accomplished mix of CD, MP3,WMA, iPod and radio playback.
It sports a black saran net across the entire frontage, giving it greater appeal wherever you decide to place it—in your bedroom, living
room, kitchen or office. The CBX-300s construction supports exemplary audio fidelity, especially for the low-end frequencies. The
design also incorporates speaker developments such as Onkyos own OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber) diaphragms and Aero Acoustic
Drive—technology youll find in some of Onkyos separate speakers.
Built-in iPod Dock with Rem ote Control O ver Audio
Play Back Your Entire CD Collection and MP3-/W MA-
Encoded Discs
In addition to playing CDs, you can slot your iPod* directly into the
CBX-300s top-loading dock to access AAC/MP3 files and podcasts.
Unlike the bulk of music systems aimed at incorporating the iPod, this
CD receiver system has been designed to deliver serious audio quality
and lively music playback. The accompanying remote control gives you
more functionality, such as the ability to skip through tracks or switch
to shuffle mode.
With more and more of todays music being bought, stored and
recorded via personal computer, the CBX-300 offers an appealing
option for playback of computer-based files burned to CD-R or
CD-RW. As MP3 and WMA files are organized hierarchically in folders,
you can use one of two modes, Navigation or All Folder, for selection
and playback. The CBX-300s remote control and display enable you to
browse folders and files easily. In All Folder mode, every folder on a
disc appears at the same level, making it easy to select the folder you
want. If no file is selected, all tracks contained in the folder will be
played back in sequence. Navigation mode, meanwhile, lets you move
through the folder hierarchy to find the track you want. The display
button on the remote enables you to display information about the
track being played, such as the name of the artist, track or album.

Tone-Enhancing Construction with Isolated Speaker
Enclosures
The construction of the CBX-300 is crafted to get the best possible
sound from a system with obvious amplification limitations. Firstly, the
inside of the CBX-300s main housing is braced to prevent unwanted
vibrations from negatively influencing sound quality. Also, the speakers
are separated from the main housing to further reduce interference.
Preset Equalizer Settings to Match the Mood ofYour
Music
Speaker Technologies and Duct Tuning to Further
Im prove Sound Q uality
The CBX-300s preset equalizer settings—Standard, Dynamic,Vocal and
Clear—tailor the audio presentation of your music sources. The
Dynamic setting brings added punch across the frequency range. And
when you want to enjoy a chosen artists songs, the Vocal setting will
bring the relevant mid-range frequencies into the foreground. With the
Clear setting, you can experience bass sounds without the “boom” that
might disturb others.
While one-box solutions cannot be compared to large, high-end,
separate components, there are opportunities to offer higher sound
quality by focusing on specific details of the construction. A fine
illustration of this on the CBX-300 is the use of OMF (Onkyo Micro
Fiber) in the speaker diaphragms. OMF is a pure, ultra-fine cotton
weave that absorbs vibrations and enables a fast, accurate response.
And with the inclusion of an Aero Acoustic Drive speaker duct, harmful
vibrations from within the speaker enclosure are further inhibited. Also,
through research of the ducts shape and size, it has been possible to
improve low bass frequency reproduction.
Active Bass Control to Im prove Audio Perform ance
Active Bass Control enables the CBX-300 to retain the integrity of low
frequencies, even at low volumes. This means that it can reproduce
highly listenable audio, without the need to boost volume.
